World Vice President of Points Fighting Appointment
Del Sampson 6th Dan has been appointed the World Vice president of semi contact and points fighting for the WKA.
A committee has been formed with the major points fighting countries of Germany, USA, England and Italy. A national and an international rating system will be developed so fighters can compete for Pro Am World Titles.
Del Sampson says “I am honoured to be given this role, Points fighting can also be thought of as a game of chess with your opponent, what we look of are good, clean solid techniques delivered with speed and prescion to the appropriate target areas to score a point. The fight is also about blocking ability as once you are scored on, your opponent has the point and you are 1 point down. The fighter must not only be able to throw explosive techniques but able to block, move and out think what the other one is to do, it’s a test of your mind, speed and technical ability.”
