The sporting/physical development and the mental development in kickboxing are  Equally important. It gives its practitioners a great deal of body co-ordination and a  wide range of muscular activity as well as mental strength, group/team spirit and  Self-esteem.

 

EUROPEAN SPORTS CHARTER

“Sport means all forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation aim at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels.” What physical effort does the activity involve? Martial arts are executed in explosive movements. The body is required to move extremely fast, execute powerful movements with hands and legs as well as dodging movements of the whole body to avoid getting hit. Martial arts are an anaerobic long-term endurance (60-120sec). Dynamic muscular activity is required  for a dynamic execution of movements which  require co-ordination and flexibility of the whole body. The body movements need to be co-ordinated with a specific breathing technique. The practitioner needs to be able to take in a maximum of oxygen and release it according to his movement. The body needs to be trained to recover extremely fast from exhortation. Every martial artist needs to be able to control his/her heart rate (slow it down)

The whole training regime is designed to acquire the necessary skills. A stretching regime is designed to increase the flexibility. Anaerobic and aerobic  Exercise will develop the endurance during training. Also all necessary skills will be  trained during training it will come more natural to some practitioners than to others  the same as it is with any activity. Certain body features like long limbs can aid the  Player but are not the only asset needed. Kickboxing requires skills acquired during  Many years of training rather than natural skills.

YES! The participants need to be able to control their emotions and aggression and Channel those into positive energy to withstand all challenges. Concentration and  the development of self discipline and patience are an essential part of the training.

Kickboxing schools around the world have taken a leading role in preserving  Important community values as respect for others (especially elders as there is a  Hierarchy according to rank and age) Kickboxing is an umbrella style for many  ancient martial arts particularly from Eastern/Oriental cultures where etiquette and  moral values are held in high esteem. A strict no doping – no drugs – no bulling  policy keeps its players/students on the right side of the law. Many kickboxing schools have programs especially designed to  Keep the youth of the streets and away from many modern temptations like alcohol  and drug abuse. Around the world programs have been initiated to have positive  impacts on society: i.e. programs for street children, special programs in deprived areas, for the travelling community, etc. Kickboxing classes can help to bring people  from the most different backgrounds together to understand and appreciate  Each other.

All styles of Kickboxing develop all the following aspects equally in the practising student:-flexibility of joints, muscles and ligaments-power-strength-mental strength, concentration and the ability to avoid distraction-confidence-courageThe sport of kickboxing can be practised alone or in a group. Martial arts training can aid with many health issues the practitioner may have.The typical training uses only the athletes own body mass and is thus not prown to develop injuries.
